Farmer and insurance salesman. Joseph C. Reasoner was born near Humboldt, Iowa in 1892 and was a lifelong resident and farmer in the area. From 1915-1920, Reasoner vaccinated and fed hogs for the Fort Dodge Serum Company. The blood from these hogs was used for hog cholera serum. In 1920 Reasoner became an insurance salesman and remained in that profession for over 40 years.

Reasoner, an avid fisherman, also spearheaded efforts to restore the Lake Nokomis Dam, after a flood in 1969.
