Beebe was born in Ipswich and later worked in the Bank of Ipswich which his father, Marcus Plin Beebe, founded. In 1912 Hiram and fellow Ipswich resident J.W. Parmley founded the Yellowstone Trail Association in an effort to build better roads between Mobridge and Aberdeen.
