William Richard Molony was born in Los Angeles in 1879. He attended Los Angeles High School and graduated from USC's College of Medicine in 1901. He served as resident physcian at the Idyllwild Sanitarium in 1901, and in 1902 became the resident physician at the California Hospital in Los Angeles. He taught medical classes at both USC and UCLA during his medical career. In 1913 he was appointed a member of the California State Board of Medical Examiners. He was elected President of the Los Angeles County Medical Association in 1931 and In 1942 he became President of the California Medical Association.
