Knapp, Robert Duane, General, 1897-1994.

Knapp had a 36 year career in the U.S. military, beginning with the 92nd Bombardment Squadron in World War I. He held a number of assignments between the wars, and in World War II commanded the 321st Bombardment Group. In 1943 the 321st saw service in North Africa, and Knapp won a Silver Star for an unescorted attack on an Axis ship convoy. In 1944 he commanded the 57th Bomb Wing and was promoted to brigadier general.
