Hugh Walpole, English novelist. Richard Dunn was with the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company in 1940 when he met Walpole; in April 1941 he joined the R.A.F. Rupert Hart-Davis, who edited the letters of Oscar Wilde and Max Beerbohm as well as the diaries of Siegfried Sassoon, published a biography of Hugh Walpole in 1932.
