Graduated from the United States Military Academy in 1886. Promoted to Brigadier General in 1917. Assumed command of the 7th Infantry Brigade in 1918. Commanded the 7th Brigade during its World War I combat service and for eight months as part of the Army of Occupation. Retired with the rank of Major General.

Benjamin Andrew Poore (b. June 22, 1863, Centre, Alabama-d. Aug. 27, 1940), Major General in the U.S. Army, graduated from West Point in 1886 and was an instructor at the Academy before serving in Puerto Rico, the Philippines, Alaska, and China. He saw action in France during World War I with the 7th Infantry Brigade, 4th Division, and served with the Army of Occupation in Germany at the end of the War. This decorated officer retired in 1927.
