Vardaman, Claude O. (Claude Ollius), 1903-1992.
Chairman of the Alabama Republican State Committee, 1942-1962. Headed state's 1952 effort to nominate Dwight D. Eisenhower as GOP presidential candidate. In 1958 Ike appointed Vardaman as delegate to the Geneva conference on immigration policies in the western hemisphere. Vardaman served as state delegate to Republican National Convention, 1944-1960.
