Hide Profile

Baker, a resident of Palmer, Mass., had a long and varied career in the textile industry. As a young man he worked in the textile mills in New Bedford, Mass., and attended the New Bedford Textile School. He then became a salesman, particularly of cotton thread, for mills in New Hampshire, Maine, and in the South. He later worked as a cost reduction specialist for Barnes Textile Associates, Boston, consulting engineers to the textile industry; he was also involved in providing training programs for new employees in the mills. He also worked with companies such as Sears, Roebuck, Montgomery Ward and du Pont, to provide figures which the companies could use to determine equitable prices to pay for materials from various mills.
