Troyer was born on October 20, 1981 in Youngstown, Ohio. She is the youngest of six children of Sue and Howard Blauser. At the age of three she moved to Tennessee and lived in the South until she moved to Provo, Utah to attend Brigham Young University. On December 27, 2002 she married Jeremiah Troyer in the Nashville, Tennessee temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In April 2004 she graduated from Brigham Young with a Bachelor of Arts in English.
