Joseph Coy Green was a history scholar and diplomat. Born in 1887 in Cincinnati, Ohio, Green graduated from Princeton University in 1908. He became a fellow in Princeton’s history department after graduation and returned to the university in 1920 as a professor in the history and politics departments. He left Princeton for a position at the United States Department of State, where he worked between 1930 and 1952. He was appointed Ambassador to Jordan in 1952. Green died in 1978.
