Riddle, Jeff C., 1863-1941
Variant namesHalf-Modoc Indian, son of T.F. (Frank) Riddle, originally of Kentucky, and Winema or Toby Riddle, his Modoc wife.
A witness to the events of the Modoc War, Riddle learned to read and write when he toured the U.S. in 1876 with Col. Alfred B. Meacham. Riddle later married the daughter of Chief Schonchin and settled on the Klamath Indian Reservation in Oregon.
