Born in 1906 in Columbus, Georgia; attended Davidson College and Brown University, and the University of Virginia; Th. D. from Columbia Theological Seminary; married Gertrude Gardenshire Reiney in 1937; ordained Presbyterian minister with pastorates in Virginia, Louisiana, Georgia, and Mississippi; Presbyterian student advisor at the University of Southern Mississippi from 1954-1960; taught at Belhaven College, Jackson, Mississippi, 1960-1972; died in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, in 1981.
