Soldier with Company D, 123rd Ohio Volunteers; of Hopewell Township, Seneca County, Ohio; participated in many small skirmishes and several full-scale battles in Virginia, including the battles of Winchester, New Market, Fisher's Hill, Cedar Creek, and Petersburg.
