Charles John Langston was born on 24 March 1895 in Rockville, Utah, to Jacob Heathcote Langston and Alice Maud Hall. While living in Lynndyl, Millard County, Utah, he received and accepted the call to serve a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to Tonga. He was set apart on 13 December 1916 and entered the field shortly thereafter. He spent almost 2 years in this field of labor, bearing his testimony to the truth of the gospel, when he was stricken with the Spanish influenza. He died on 26 November 1918 in Tonga from the effects of the disease.
