Educator. Born 1897 and died 1988 in Fort Worth, Texas. A graduate of Randolph Macon Women's College and the University of California at Berkeley (Ph. D. 1934), Dr. Garrett taught for 45 years in the Fort Worth public schools and for two years at Texas Wesleyan College. She was a Fellow of the Texas State Historical Association and the recipient of awards from TSHA, the Tarrant County Historical Commission, and the city of Fort Worth for her efforts to preserve Texas history. Dr. Garrett was the author of FORT WORTH: A FRONTIER TRIUMPH and GREEN FLAG OVER TEXAS, and co-author of the textbook, A HISTORY OF TEXAS, LAND OF PROMISE.
