Bryant, William J., shipmaster
Variant namesWilliam Junior Bryant was born May 4, 1904 in Springfield Vermont. After graduating from Dartmouth, he worked in his father's company until he became president in 1946. Eventually he engaged in philanthropic work and started the William L. Bryant Foundation in 1950 to begin archaeological excavations in Florida, Spain and the Caribbean. The Foundation helped Bryant to pursue his interest in archaeology which fueled his passion for collecting works of art, cultural and ethnic items, and books.
