Alpha Zeta was founded at Ohio State University in 1897 as an honorary professional society for students and industry professionals in the agriculture and natural resources fields. The North Carolina Chapter (NC State's chapter) was established in January of 1904, and is the oldest agricultural society on campus. The North Carolina Chapter of Alpha Zeta remained active as of 2008.
