Liddell, St. John Richardson
Variant namesSt. John Richardson Liddell, a prominent planter of Llanada Plantation, Catahoula Parish, Louisiana served as brigadier general in the Confederate Army during the Civil War. He commanded a division of the Army of Tennessee at the Battle of Chickamauga, Ga. Sept. 1863, assumed command of the District of Southwest Mississippi and East Louisiana August 2, 1864, and later commanded the defense of Fort Blakely, Ala. in 1865. He resumed his plantation work at Llanada at the end of the war.
