Civil War veterans organization; originally founded as the Ed. S. McCook Post in 1884; due to use of this name by another post, renamed in honor of Col. Simon Mix of the 34th New York Cavalry who was killed in action at the Battle of Petersburg; membership declined and organization disbanded in 1934; Woman's Relief Corps, Simon Mix Corps No. 12 organized as an auxiliary the GAR post in 1886; disbanded in 1968.
