Bloomfield Mission.
In 1887, the Lutheran Church of Australia established a mission at Bloomfield, south of Cooktown. When it closed in 1901 many aboriginal Australians were transferred to the mission at Hope Valley. In 1957 the Lutheran Church resumed mission work at Bloomfield. In 1970 the mission name was changed to Wujal Wujal. Some records exist at the Lutheran Archives in Adelaide, SA but more are held at the office of the Far North Queensland Lutheran Mission.
