Born in Limerick, Ireland, 1846; came to Detroit with parents, 1849; participated in 32 battles of the Civil War; listed as a corporal but generally known as colonel; retired to Detroit after the Indian wars; died in Detroit, Sept. 13, 1925. (from Free Press, Sept.15,1925, in Reading Room File).
