Daughters of Hans O. and Caroline (Bergan) Lobben, Norwegian immigrants who came to Benson, Minn. in 1880 and to Fargo in 1881. Clara H. Lobben was born 1883 at Oakes, N.D. In 1918, she graduated from Moorhead State Normal School, later taught at Longfellow and Wilson schools in Fargo. She was the first principal at Ben Franklin School (1927-1948), active in the North Dakota Education Association, retired in 1948, and died in 1963. Gertrude A. (Gertie) was born at Fargo in 1892. She began studies at Concordia College, Moorhead, Minn. in 1914, completing her degree in 1949. She was active in North Dakota Federation of Music Clubs and Phi Iota, a music sorority. She and sister Clara were active in the Woman's Christian Temperance Union. She died in 1967. Katie Mathilda Lobben was born at Fargo in 1886, she also became a teacher, teaching briefly at New York Mills, Minn. and returning to Fargo to teach in various schools. She died in 1940. The three sisters and their parents are buried at Riverside Cemetery, Fargo.
