Theodore G. Stroup, Jr. graduated from the United States Military Academy (USMA), West Point, New York with the class of 1962. His early assignments were with the Engineer Corps. He saw service in Vietnam with various Construction Engineer units and subsequently attended the Engineer Officer Advanced Course and became Course Director, Military Science Branch at the USMA. He attended the Armed Forces Staff College and then became operations officer, 802nd Engineer Battalion in Korea. He attended the Army War College in 1981 and then became District Engineer of Washington, DC. Much of his subsequent years were spent at the Pentagon on various assignments, the two most represented in this collection being Director for Military Personnel Management, Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff for Personnel and Director, Program Analysis and Evaluation, Office of the Chief of Staff. General Stroup retired in November 1996 at the rank of Lieutenant General.
