David Mitchell, 1924-

David Mitchell was born in London in 1924. After graduating from Oxford University, he worked as a journalist on the Picture Post and later worked as a picture editor for the Central Information Service. In 1965 he became a freelance writer and published work exploring the twentieth century women's suffrage campaigns. His published work includes Women on the Warpath (1966), The Fighting Pankhursts (1967) and Queen Christabel (1977). Research notes for these publications form the David Mitchell collection, which was acquired by the Museum in the 1970s.
