Bemis, Stephen, 1774-1828

Stephen Bemis (1774-1828) was born in Westminster, Mass., and graduated from Dartmouth College in 1798. He served as a tutor at Dartmouth from 1799 to 1800, before studying divinity with Joseph Lathrop of West Springfield. He was ordained minister of the Congregational Church in Harvard, Mass., in 1801. He was dismissed by the congregation in 1813. He died in Harvard in 1828.
