Hugh D. Auchincloss (b. 1927) was the son of Hugh Dudley Auchincloss, lawyer and stockbroker, and Maya (Maria) de Chrapovitsky. He was Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy Onassis' step-brother and close personal friend. Auchincloss' father married Janet Lee Bouvier in June 1942. He attended the Groton School in Groton, Massachusetts, and joined the U.S. Marine Corps upon his graduation in 1945. He entered Yale University in Winter of 1947. During the early 1950's, Auchincloss completed a second tour of duty in Korea and studied at the American University of Beirut. He later served with the U.S. delegation to the United Nations Sixteenth General Assembly with Ambassador Adlai Stevenson in 1961.
