Cyrus W. Rayhill (1835-1905) was born in Washington County, Indiana. Cyrus enlisted as a lieutentant in B Company of the 16th Indiana Infantry Regiment in July 1862. He resigned his commission on 30 march 1863, likely due to disability. The 1870 Census indicates he was a farmer and he and his wife Hannah lived in Christian County, Illinois with their five children. Widowed in 1878, he continued to live in Pana, Illinois. Rayhill was a member of the G.A. R. Post 411 in Pana and died on 18 November 1905.
