Mary Armitt was born Mary Emlen in Philadelphia, Pa., on Nov. 1, 1707, the daughter of George and Hannah Emlen. She married John Armitt in 1728 and was widowed in 1762. The couple had no children. Mrs. Armitt died on Feb. 18, 1791.
