Marquardt, Horst
Minister, evangelist, religious radio station executive, author; born in Berlin, Germany in 1929; grew up in Breslau, Silesia during World War II; after fall of Hitler, joined the Communist Party as a journalist; converted to Christianity through private reading of the New Testament; left position with the Communist Party and took a job with a Methodist congregation in Berlin; studied theology in Frankfurt; involved in relief work for the refugees of the Hungarian Revolution of 1956; helped form Evangeliums-Rundfunk, the German branch of Voice of Tangiers (now know as Trans World Radio); founded and served as chairman of the Information Service of Evangelical Alliance in West Germany; married; had four children.
