Merrill, Samuel, 1792-1855
Variant namesMerrill came to Vevay, Ind. in 1816 and in 1819 began his political career, serving in the state General Assembly and as State treasurer. He also was president of the State Bank of Indiana and the Madison and Indianapolis Rail Road Company, and founded the Merrill Publishing Company.
