The Wisconsin Home for Women was created by Chapter 343, Laws of 1945, through the consolidation of the Industrial Home for Women (WIHV88-A47) with the Prison for Women (WIHV88-A50). It was under the control of the State Department of Public Welfare's (WIHV85-A488) Division of Corrections (WIHV85-A281). In 1967, the supervision of the home was transferred to the Department of Health and Social Services (WIHV85-A674). In July 1976, the Home for Women became the Taycheedah Correctional Institution (WIHV88-A48).
