Wister family.

Hide Profile

It all began with pater John Wister who, having purchased property on Market Street between 3rd and 4th Streets, started his wine merchant business. It was at this same location where successive generations of Wisters, their partners, and one clerk carried on as dry good merchants. The cast of characters are: John Wister; his sons Daniel and William; Daniel's sons John Jr., and Charles Jones; Daniel's son-in-law John Morgan Price; Charles Jones's son Charles Jones, Jr. (who was not a merchant); William's partner George Aston; one-time clerk turned merchant in his own right, Adam Konigmacher, his partner Yardley, and John Cameron, a Lancaster merchant of unknown connection.
