Vlada Urošević was born in Skopje, Macedonia, on October 17, 1934. He studied literature and earned his doctorate at Skopje University, where he later became a professor in the Depeartment of General and Comparative Literature. He was a prolific poet, author, and translator of poetry. He was a member of the Macedonian Academy of Sciences and Arts (Македонска академија на науките и уметностите), l’Académie européenne de la poésie, l’Académie Mallarmé de Paris, and the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts (Српска академија наука и уметности). He was a four-time winner of the "Braća Miladinov" award at the Struga Poetry Evenings.
