Tazewell Lamar McCorkle, Sr., was regarded as a leading authority in the field of commercial explosives. Trained as a chemical engineer, McCorkle's tenure as a sales representative with the Explosives Dept. of E.I. du Pont de Nemours & Company spanned more than thirty years. In the course of a career that witnessed the phasing out of dynamite and the advent of water gel technology, McCorkle acquired an unparalleled knowledge of the marketing, sale, storage and distribution of explosives.
