Gustavus Adolphus Schutt Schneider

Gustavus Adolphus Schutt Schneider (1858-1941) was born on 10 September 1858 in London. He attended the Gymnasium at Frankfort, before entering Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge, in 1877 (B.A., 1880; M.A., 1883). He was ordained deacon in 1882, and priest in 1884. Schneider was Vice-Principal of Ridley Hall, Cambridge, 1882-1883 and 1885-1898; Professor of Divinity at Trinity College, Toronto, 1883-1885; and the Librarian at Gonville and Caius, 1908-1928. He died on 9 October 1941.

Fenton John Anthony Hort (1828-1892), theologian, was born in Dublin on 23 April 1828. He attended Trinity College, Cambridge, and was Lady Margaret Professor of Divinity at the university. He died on 30 November 1892.

Brooke Foss Westcott (1825-1901), Bishop of Durham, worked with F.A.J. Holt for 28 years preparing their seminal text of the New Testament in Greek (2 vols., 1881).
