Gertrude Lippincott was born on June 29, 1913 in St. Paul, Minnesota. She completed her Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology at the University of Minnesota in 1935 and earned her Masters of Arts degree in education with an emphasis on dance from New York University in 1943. Her performance career began in 1937 when she founded the Modern Dance Center of Minneapolis. She performed, taught, lectured, and demonstrated modern dance at colleges and communities throughout the country. She died on June 2, 1996.
