Soldier and administrator. Commandant of forces in Tasmania, then in Western Australia where he arrived in 1882. Superintendent of Rottnest Island, 1890-1898. H.H. Parry, the second Anglican Bishop of Perth (1877-1893), was involved in the Gribble controversy in which Anglican missionary J.B. Gribble's accusation that white settlers in the Gascoyne were guilty of poor treatment of Aborigines in their employment led to violent reaction.
