General Follett Bradley graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1920, from the Air Service Engineering School in 1922, from the Air Corps Tactical School in 1927, from the Command and General Staff School in 1928, the Army War College in 1932, and the Naval War College in 1933. He advanced steadily through the ranks and was appointed Brigadier General in 1940 and Major General in 1942. In the spring of that year, he commanded the First Air Force and in August he left for Russia on his confidential mission concerned with United States' military aid to Russia. By 1943, Bradley was Air Inspector of the Army Air Forces and again sent overseas on a special mission. He retired in 1944 because of physical disability. He later joined Sperry Gyroscope Corporation and worked there until his death from a heart attack in 1952.
