Richard Remy Dixon (1911-1991) was a journalist and city official in New Orleans, La. He was a lifelong resident of Algiers, a part of New Orleans on the west bank of the Mississippi River, and he wrote for the West side news, and the Algiers herald. In 1947, Dixon entered city government as one of the organizers of the New Orleans Recreation Department (NORD). He later served as an Executive Secretary to Mayor deLesseps S. Morrison, as the city's Director of Public Relations to Mayor Victor Schiro, and as Director of the Municipal Auditorium (1964-1976). Following his retirement in 1977, Dixon returned to an early interest in compiling and publishing historical material about New Orleans.
