Heineman, Paul R.
Paul Ralph Heineman was born on 7 December 1897 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He attended Northeast High School and Central Manual Training School before his appointment to the U.S. Naval Academy in 1916. As a Midshipman he served during World War I on USS New Jersey, Oklahoma, and Vermont. Graduated and commissioned Ensign in June 1919, he attained the rank of Captain to date from 18 June 1942. During World War II he had duty as Commander Destroyer Division 13 and various Task Units within Task Force 24, after which he served as Anti-Submarine Warfare Office on the staff of Commander in Chief Atlantic Fleet. On 30 June 1949, he was transferred to the Retired List of the U.S. Navy and advanced to the grade of Rear Admiral on the basis of combat citations.
