Dr. Annie Webb Blanton, founder of the society, came to Montana in Apr. 1940 to organize Montana as the thirty-sixth state in the organization. In addition, Alpha and Beta Chapters were chartered at that time. Plans were made to organize four chapters in the state. Dr. Blanton then traveled to Billings, Mont., and installed Gamma Chapter on 15 Apr. 1940. Great Falls followed the next day with the Delta Chapter. Committees in 1940 included the following: Legislation, Equal Opportunities for Women Teachers, Retirement Fund for Teachers, Permanent Fund, and Scholarships.
