Homer Hush, an alternate Iowa delegate to the 1936 Republican National Convention became disillusioned with the GOP and became an ardent Roosevelt supporter. He chaired the Iowa Farmers' Committee for Roosevelt in 1936; served as Iowa Assistant Secretary of Agriculture, 1937-1938; chaired the Iowa Farm Debt Advisory Council; and edited the Marcus News. Hush farmed in Kossuth and Page Counties and was active with various USDA farm progams.
