Sir Henry Wells (b. 1898), Lieutenant-General in the Australian Army, held a number of key positions during World War II: senior liaison officer, I Australian Corps; general staff officer, 9th Australian Division; brigadier general, I and II Australian Corps. He also served during the Korean War as commander in chief, British Commonwealth Forces. He ended his military career as chairman of the chiefs of staff committee and retired in 1959.
