Amos Ralph Koontz (1890-1965) was a graduate of the College of William and Mary. He studied medicine at John Hopkins University and served in both World War I and World War II. Koontz achieved international promininece for his work in hernia surgery, was active against socialized medicine, and traveled extensively.
