During the late eighteenth and early nineteenth century, Enderby vessels made profitable voyages to both northern and southern waters. In 1791, he arranged for whalers to carry convicts to Port Jackson, Australia in the Third Fleet. In 1806, the Enderby captain Abraham Bristow discovered the Auckland Islands, naming one of the islands Enderby Island.
