North Carolina State University. Institute of Statistics.
The Institute of Statistics was created at North Carolina State College (later, University) in 1946 by Gertrude Cox, a member of the Department of Statistics. The Institute was a created as a partnership between NC State and UNC-Chapel Hill for the mutual study and analysis of statistical issues. Throughout its existence, the Institute of Statistics has been overseen by the Department of Statistics, where it continues to operate as of 2010.
