Washington Area Performing Arts Video Archives

The Washington Area Performing Arts Video Archives (WAPAVA) was established to create and preserve a videotape collection of significant Washington-area stage performances, including theater, dance, opera, mime, and storytelling. WAPAVA is one of only four public archives of theater and other performing arts in the country. The Washingtoniana Division, D.C. Community Archives is the official repository of the collection. The first taping was conducted in 1993.
