Benjamin E. Washburn was a physician, public health officer, and author; field director of the Rockefeller Sanitary Commission in North Carolina (1913-1914); health officer, Nash County, North Carolina (1914); and officer of the International Health Board/Division of the Rockefeller Foundation in Trinidad, North Carolina, Jamaica, the West Indies, and Central America (1915-1939).
