Abraham, Chapman, -1783
Variant namesPioneer Jewish merchant who moved first from England to Albany, N.Y, and later to Montreal. He was most likely the first Jew in Detroit, Mich., and survived the Pontiac uprising. He was an United Empire Loyalist. Commonly known as Chapman Abraham; also known as Chapman Abrams.
