Hide Profile

The Helena Young People's Local Union was organized in June 1891 as a local of the Young People's Society of Christian Endeavor. Among the founders of the local were John Baker, Thomas E. Goodwin, S. P. Logan, and D. P, Owen. The national group was founded in 1881 in Portland, Maine, by Francis Edward Clark as an evangelical society to bring youth to Christ. Helena and Bozeman each had a local. A state convention met on April 28, 1892, drawing interested youth from around the state. In 1899 a Constitution and Bylaws formalized the organization of the Union.
